HY-5 goes Japan. Business trip to Tokyo and Kobe

Green Hydrogen Initiative from Northern Germany seeks to attract foreign investors and partners at FC Expo

Japan and Germany are among the leading countries that will increasingly rely on hydrogen in the future. This is why the green hydrogen initiative HY-5 will be promoting the establishment of hydrogen companies in Northern Germany in Japan and presenting its most important hydrogen projects at this year’s FC EXPO in Tokyo (15 to 17 March 2023). These range from the generation of clean energy through wind power to the construction of large-scale electrolysers and the expansion of a hydrogen infrastructure.

Import terminals are planned in the ports of Lower Saxony, Hamburg, Bremen, Schleswig-Holstein, and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. In addition, various gas pipelines are being retrofitted or newly laid to become hydrogen networks to supply the most important industrial regions throughout Germany with green energy (these include, for example, the doing hydrogen, Hyperlink, Hydrogen backbone or HH-WIN projects). Unused energy can be stored as hydrogen in salt caverns in the future – for which Northern Germany offers excellent conditions.

HY-5 will showcase all these projects and more to an international audience of experts at the FC EXPO, which takes place during World Smart Energy Week. It is the largest international trade fair of its kind in Asia and has become the most important hydrogen platform in Japan since its launch in 2005. In addition to the green hydrogen initiative HY-5, which represents northern Germany in Tokyo, Germany Trade and Invest will also be there to act as the representative of the Federal Republic of Germany.
